This artwork by Danny Lyon achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in December last year. In the The Gift of Photographs auction, the work Defeated Demo Driver (from 'The Pits') sold for USD 5,355.00 (€ 5,005.61) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Danny Lyon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Conversations with the Dead, 1967-1968 in October 2006 with an auction result of USD 114,000.00 (€ 89,250.76).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Danny Lyon erzielte im Dezember letzten Jahres bei Bonhams einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Gift of Photographs wurde die Arbeit Defeated Demo Driver (from 'The Pits') für USD 5.355,00 (€ 5.005,61) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Danny Lyon erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Conversations with the Dead, 1967-1968 im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 114.000,00 (€ 89.250,76).
