Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2017 Sothebys in New York held the auction European Art, which included the work American at The Well by Daniel Ridgway Knight. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 175,000.00 (€ 155,749.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Daniel Ridgway Knight - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Coming from the Garden, which sold at auction in November 2000 for USD 402,000.00 (€ 462,387.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2017 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit American at The Well von Daniel Ridgway Knight zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 175.000,00 (€ 155.749,38) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Daniel Ridgway Knight mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Coming from the Garden beobachtet, die im November 2000 für USD 402.000,00 (€ 462.387,85) versteigert wurde.
