Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work To The Boring Fifties by Dale Hickey was auctioned at Christies in Melbourne in November 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of AUD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for AUD 657.25 (€ 412.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dale Hickey achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Foyer (Bursey Theatre) in April 2001 with an auction result of AUD 32,900.00 (€ 18,893.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit To The Boring Fifties von Dale Hickey im November 2005 bei Christies in Melbourne versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für AUD 657,25 (€ 412,19) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Dale Hickey erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Foyer (Bursey Theatre) im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 32.900,00 (€ 18.893,22).
