Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Lady, Aged 24 by Cornelis van der Voort was sold in the Master Paintings & Sculpture Day Sale auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2017. The price achieved of USD 52,500.00 (€ 48,638.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cornelis van der Voort have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a lady, three-quarter-length, in a black vlieger brocade gown, with an elongated embroidered stomacher, lace-trimmed cuffs and a cartwheel ruff trimmed with reticella lace in July 2016 with an auction result of GBP 242,500.00 (€ 288,142.46).
