Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Trompe L'Oeil With A Woodcock Hanging Before A Wall by Cornelis Biltius was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in May 2018. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,693.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelis Biltius achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Pair Of Trompe L'Œil Game Larder Still Lifes: With A Hare, Partridge, Snipe, Turkey, Pike, Eel And Fish, With A Parrot; And With Pigeons, A Hare, Calf'S Head, Asparagus, Lobster And Trout, With A Hawk And A Plover in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 70,912.98).
