This work of art by Cornelis Biltius could be acquired at Christies in New York in January 2013 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Old Master Paintings Part II auction, the work A Trompe L'Oeil Of A Hanging Pheasant; And A Trompe L'Oeil Of A Hanging Black Grouse changed hands for USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,441.40) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornelis Biltius achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Pair Of Trompe L'Œil Game Larder Still Lifes: With A Hare, Partridge, Snipe, Turkey, Pike, Eel And Fish, With A Parrot; And With Pigeons, A Hare, Calf'S Head, Asparagus, Lobster And Trout, With A Hawk And A Plover in December 2019 with an auction result of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 70,912.98).
