This artwork by Conrad Martens achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Melbourne in May 2005. In the PAINTINGS FROM THE JOSEPH BROWN COLLECTION auction, the work View of Sydney From St Leonards, 1842 sold for AUD 8,962.50 (€ 5,509.30) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Conrad Martens achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ausa Campbell'S Wharf in May 2009 with an auction result of AUD 576,000.00 (€ 325,921.56).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Conrad Martens erzielte im Mai 2005 bei Christies in Melbourne einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion PAINTINGS FROM THE JOSEPH BROWN COLLECTION wurde die Arbeit View of Sydney From St Leonards, 1842 für AUD 8.962,50 (€ 5.509,30) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von AUD 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Conrad Martens erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ausa Campbell'S Wharf im Mai 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 576.000,00 (€ 325.921,56).
