Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Mountain Landscape With Waterfall by Claude-Louis Châtelet was sold in the Old Master Drawings auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,063.00 (€ 3,598.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claude-Louis Châtelet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pyramid at the Château de Maupertuis in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 391,000.00 (€ 419,168.10).
