This artwork by Claude-Louis Châtelet achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in April last year. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work A formal garden with figures by a rotunda, a villa beyond sold for GBP 13,860.00 (€ 16,527.56) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Claude-Louis Châtelet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Pyramid at the Château de Maupertuis in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 391,000.00 (€ 419,168.10).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Claude-Louis Châtelet erzielte im April letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Paintings wurde die Arbeit A formal garden with figures by a rotunda, a villa beyond für GBP 13.860,00 (€ 16.527,56) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Claude-Louis Châtelet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Pyramid at the Château de Maupertuis im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 391.000,00 (€ 419.168,10).
