Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work View of the Pier (Santa Barbara) sight 14 1/2 x 20 1/2 in. framed 22 1/2 x 28 1/2 in. by Clarence Hinkle was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,400.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,408.00 (€ 1,290.80). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Clarence Hinkle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Still Life in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 35,312.50 (€ 31,285.99).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit View of the Pier (Santa Barbara) sight 14 1/2 x 20 1/2 in. framed 22 1/2 x 28 1/2 in. von Clarence Hinkle im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.400,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.408,00 (€ 1.290,80) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Clarence Hinkle erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Still Life im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 35.312,50 (€ 31.285,99).
