In April 2016 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, which included the work Two Women by Chuah Thean Teng. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 100,000.00 (€ 11,266.50), 43% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chuah Thean Teng - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Gotong Royong, which sold at auction in May 2016 for HKD 325,000.00 (€ 37,563.99).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 43 % übertroffen
Im April 2016 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Women von Chuah Thean Teng zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 100.000,00 (€ 11.266,50) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Chuah Thean Teng mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Gotong Royong beobachtet, die im Mai 2016 für HKD 325.000,00 (€ 37.563,99) versteigert wurde.
