Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The interior of a cathedral with figures by Christian Stöcklin was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2000, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,525.00 (€ 3,778.95). Admittedly, works by Christian Stöcklin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Imaginary Church Interior With Figures in June 2013 with an auction result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 30,745.58).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The interior of a cathedral with figures von Christian Stöcklin im Mai 2000 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.525,00 (€ 3.778,95) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christian Stöcklin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An Imaginary Church Interior With Figures im Juni 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 30.745,58).
