The work Norwegian leif Eriksson Oppdager Amerika (Leif Eriksson Discovers America) by Christian Krohg was sold in the 19th Century European Paintings Including German, Austrian and Central European Paintings, The Orientalist Sale, Spanish Painting and the Scandinavian Sale auction at Sothebys in London in June 2010. The price achieved of GBP 205,250.00 (€ 249,603.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Norwegian leif Eriksson Oppdager Amerika (Leif Eriksson Discovers America) is the most expensive artwork by Christian Krohg that we have observed at auctions so far.
