The work Goodnight, Thomas by Cheng Xinyi was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction at Phillips in Hong Kong in March this year. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 1,206,500.00 (€ 141,268.81), 34% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cheng Xinyi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Aperitif, which sold at auction in April last year for HKD 4,410,000.00 (€ 533,201.10).

Die Arbeit Goodnight, Thomas von Cheng Xinyi wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 1.206.500,00 (€ 141.268,81) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Cheng Xinyi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Aperitif beobachtet, die im April letzten Jahres für HKD 4.410.000,00 (€ 533.201,10) versteigert wurde.
