Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2016 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Afternoon Sale, which included the work Place of Emptiness by Chen Zhen. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 125,000.00 (€ 118,169.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chen Zhen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Opening Of A Closed Center, which sold at auction in May 2007 for USD 576,000.00 (€ 428,157.29).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2016 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Afternoon Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Place of Emptiness von Chen Zhen zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 118.169,79) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Chen Zhen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Opening Of A Closed Center beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für USD 576.000,00 (€ 428.157,29) versteigert wurde.
