This artwork by Chen Qiulin achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Shanghai in October 2015. In the +86 Chinese Contemporary Art auction, the work The Garden No.1 sold for CNY 162,500.00 (€ 23,296.28) - well above the upper estimate of CNY 60,000.00. This high result makes The Garden No.1 the most expensive artwork by Chen Qiulin that we have observed at auctions so far.
