Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Five-Character Poem In Running-Cursive Script by Chen Jiru was worth HKD 300,000.00 (€ 28,443.33) to a buyer in November 2013. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 100,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chen Jiru achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy in April this year with an auction result of HKD 336,000.00 (€ 343,121.74).
