In September 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy, which included the work Dream Journal In Running Script by Chen Jiru. The »bidding war« ended at USD 93,750.00 (€ 83,422.32), 56% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Chen Jiru have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy in April this year with an auction result of HKD 336,000.00 (€ 343,121.74).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im September 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dream Journal In Running Script von Chen Jiru zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 93.750,00 (€ 83.422,32) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Chen Jiru auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 336.000,00 (€ 343.121,74).
