A top price for Chen Hongshou
This artwork by Chen Hongshou achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2012. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction, the work Seven Sages Of The Bamboo Grove sold for USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,237,813.11) - well above the upper estimate of USD 700,000.00. This high result makes Seven Sages Of The Bamboo Grove the most expensive artwork by Chen Hongshou that we have observed at auctions so far.
