Florence and Paul Dombey from Dombey & Son, Charles Dickens by Charles Wynne Nicholls was sold in the Victorian Pictures auction at Christies in London in June 2003. The price achieved of GBP 8,962.50 (€ 12,879.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, "What are the wild waves saying?" Florence and Paul Dombey from Dombey & Son, Charles Dickens is the most expensive artwork by Charles Wynne Nicholls that we have observed at auctions so far.
