This artwork by Charles Wynne Nicholls achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2008. In the A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation auction, the work A Seaside Romance sold for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,846.42) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Charles Wynne Nicholls; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot "What are the wild waves saying?" Florence and Paul Dombey from Dombey & Son, Charles Dickens sold at auction in June 2003 with the realized price of GBP 8,962.50 (€ 12,879.60).
