Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Styracosaurus and Parasaurolohus by Charles Robert Knight was sold in the The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration auction at Christies in New York in December 2012. The price achieved of USD 2,375.00 (€ 1,801.15) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Robert Knight have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pushing Elephants: A Pair of Bookends in September 2005 with an auction result of USD 18,000.00 (€ 14,927.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Styracosaurus and Parasaurolohus von Charles Robert Knight wurde im Dezember 2012 in der Auktion The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.375,00 (€ 1.801,15) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Robert Knight auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pushing Elephants: A Pair of Bookends im September 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.000,00 (€ 14.927,85).
