Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Stegasaurus and Ceratosaurus by Charles Robert Knight was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,250.00 (€ 1,706.36). Admittedly, works by Charles Robert Knight have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pushing Elephants: A Pair of Bookends in September 2005 with an auction result of USD 18,000.00 (€ 14,927.85).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Stegasaurus and Ceratosaurus von Charles Robert Knight im Dezember 2012 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.250,00 (€ 1.706,36) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Robert Knight auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pushing Elephants: A Pair of Bookends im September 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.000,00 (€ 14.927,85).
