Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Diplodocus by Charles Robert Knight was sold in the The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration auction at Christies in New York in December 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,250.00 (€ 1,706.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Robert Knight have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pushing Elephants: A Pair of Bookends in September 2005 with an auction result of USD 18,000.00 (€ 14,927.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Diplodocus von Charles Robert Knight wurde im Dezember 2012 in der Auktion The National Geographic Collection: The Art of Exploration bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.250,00 (€ 1.706,36) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Robert Knight auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pushing Elephants: A Pair of Bookends im September 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.000,00 (€ 14.927,85).
