In March 2011 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Pictures Including Drawings & Watercolours, which included the work The river ferry by Charles Pettitt. The price achieved of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,525.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The river ferry is the most expensive artwork by Charles Pettitt that we have observed at auctions so far.
