Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Charles Meynier achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September 2017. In the The Collection of Paul F. Walter auction, the work Andromache Crying for Astyanax sold for USD 18,750.00 (€ 15,872.34) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Meynier - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Milo Of Croton Attacked By A Lion, which sold at auction in January 2014 for USD 75,000.00 (€ 55,555.56).

Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Meynier mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Milo Of Croton Attacked By A Lion beobachtet, die im Januar 2014 für USD 75.000,00 (€ 55.555,56) versteigert wurde.
