Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2017 Phillips in New York held the auction The Odyssey of Collecting: Photographs from Joy of Giving Something Foundation, Part 2, which included the work Rue Pirouette, vue prise de la rue Rambuteau, 1er arrondissement, Paris by Charles Marville. The price achieved of USD 25,000.00 (€ 22,946.31) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Marville - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Paris: La Bièvre Entre Les Rues Pascal Et Cochin', which sold at auction in April 2008 for USD 103,000.00 (€ 66,161.36).
