Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PICTURES, which included the work Cattle watering in a Welsh landscape; and Anglers by a lake by Charles Leslie. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,467.50 (€ 3,542.13), 23% above the upper estimate. Other works by Charles Leslie have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 3,760.00 (€ 6,070.79) in September 2001 for the work Figures resting by a lake with cattle watering in a mountainous landscape.
