It achieved a price of GBP 3,760.00 (€ 5,983.34), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Admittedly, works by Charles James Theriat have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work American Playing The Derbakeh, Biskra in March 2009 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 37,704.55).

Die Arbeit A pair of travellers bellow cliffs in the desert; and Watering at a river in the desert; and An Arab camp in the desert; and The shepherd in the desert von Charles James Theriat wurde im November 2001 in der Auktion Nineteenth Century European Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 3.760,00 (€ 5.983,34) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles James Theriat auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit American Playing The Derbakeh, Biskra im März 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 37.704,55).
