In October 2000 Christies in London held the auction THE SCOTTISH SALE - EDINBURGH, which included the work View of the nave of Christchurch Cathedral, Oxford; and Entrance to the Great chamber (illustrated) by Charles James Lauder. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,467.50 (€ 4,217.66), 65% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Charles James Lauder; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Royal Exchange sold at auction in May 2002 with the realized price of GBP 2,987.50 (€ 4,678.47).
