Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitleld (Abstract Composition) by Charles Houghton Howard was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2009, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,655.68). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Houghton Howard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Winter Painting in April 2014 with an auction result of USD 125,000.00 (€ 90,122.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitleld (Abstract Composition) von Charles Houghton Howard im März 2009 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.500,00 (€ 5.655,68) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Houghton Howard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Winter Painting im April 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 125.000,00 (€ 90.122,57).
