This artwork by Charles Herbert Woodbury achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in February 2011. In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Waves crashing; and a companion painting sold for USD 2,000.00 (€ 1,450.01) - well above the upper estimate of USD 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Herbert Woodbury achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Splashing in the Surf in June 2002 with an auction result of USD 47,800.00 (€ 48,498.38).
