In May this year Bonhams held the auction Studio Art | Bonhams Skinner, which included the work Three Framed Etchings: Mrs. Dexter with Cats II, Woodbury Cat, and Mrs. Sam Dexter on Lobster Trap by Charles Herbert Woodbury. The »bidding war« ended at USD 510.00 (€ 478.69), 70% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Herbert Woodbury achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Splashing in the Surf in June 2002 with an auction result of USD 47,800.00 (€ 48,498.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 70 % übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Studio Art | Bonhams Skinner durch, in der auch die Arbeit Three Framed Etchings: Mrs. Dexter with Cats II, Woodbury Cat, and Mrs. Sam Dexter on Lobster Trap von Charles Herbert Woodbury zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 510,00 (€ 478,69) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Herbert Woodbury erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Splashing in the Surf im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.800,00 (€ 48.498,38).
