Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Bruges; and View of Stokesay Castle, Shropshire by Charles Green was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,792.50 (€ 2,667.78). Admittedly, works by Charles Green have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dancing Girls and Musicians, Coromandel, Madras in September 2003 with an auction result of GBP 11,950.00 (€ 12,036.91).
