Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Feeding the swans before Warwick Castle (illustrated); and Herding the cattle past Carisbrook Castle, Isle of Wight by Charles Frederick Buckley was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 500.00 (€ 597.50). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Frederick Buckley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Great Exhibition, Crystal Palace, 1851 in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 14,340.00 (€ 20,628.01).
