This artwork by Charles Frederick Buckley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2001. In the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS auction, the work A shepherd and his flock in a mountainous river landscape sold for GBP 940.00 (€ 1,575.93) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Frederick Buckley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Great Exhibition, Crystal Palace, 1851 in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 14,340.00 (€ 20,628.01).
