Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Charles Ephraim Burchfield achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2021. In the American Art auction, the work Zinnias sold for USD 625,000.00 (€ 553,734.38) - well above the upper estimate of USD 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Ephraim Burchfield - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cherry Blossom Snow, which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 1,812,500.00 (€ 1,553,127.68).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Charles Ephraim Burchfield erzielte im November 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit Zinnias für USD 625.000,00 (€ 553.734,38) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 300.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Ephraim Burchfield mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cherry Blossom Snow beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für USD 1.812.500,00 (€ 1.553.127,68) versteigert wurde.
