Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Two Centuries: American Art, which included the work Backyard in November by Charles Ephraim Burchfield. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 60,480.00 (€ 52,354.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Ephraim Burchfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cherry Blossom Snow in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,812,500.00 (€ 1,553,127.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Two Centuries: American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Backyard in November von Charles Ephraim Burchfield zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 60.480,00 (€ 52.354,57) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Ephraim Burchfield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Cherry Blossom Snow im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.812.500,00 (€ 1.553.127,68).
