This artwork by Charles Rowbotham achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in October 2003. In the At Home-British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper auction, the work Figures resting on a coastal path, with boats sailing in the bay sold for GBP 376.00 (€ 549.18) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Rowbotham achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Castelamare, Bay of Naples in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,110.00 (€ 9,986.55).
