Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Distant view of Mentone, South France - evening (illustrated); and Baveno, from the Isola Superiore, Lago de Maggiore, Italy by Charles Rowbotham was sold in the Christie's Interiors auction at Christies in London in January 2011. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,122.27) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Rowbotham have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Castelamare, Bay of Naples in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,110.00 (€ 9,986.55).
