Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work Lake of Lugano; And Varenna, Lake of Como (Illustrated) by Charles Rowbotham. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,440.00 (€ 2,107.99), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Rowbotham have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Castelamare, Bay of Naples in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,110.00 (€ 9,986.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lake of Lugano; And Varenna, Lake of Como (Illustrated) von Charles Rowbotham zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.440,00 (€ 2.107,99) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Rowbotham auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Castelamare, Bay of Naples im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.110,00 (€ 9.986,55).
