Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Indian On Horseback by Charles Craig was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 4,015.60). Admittedly, works by Charles Craig have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Meeting on the Mesa in May 2000 with an auction result of USD 21,150.00 (€ 22,673.67).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Indian On Horseback von Charles Craig im April 2017 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.375,00 (€ 4.015,60) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Craig auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Meeting on the Mesa im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 21.150,00 (€ 22.673,67).
