In December 2011 Christies in London held the auction An Iberian Private Collection Part II: Furniture, Silver, Jewellery, Paintings, European, Chinese & Islamic Ceramics, which included the work A '74' and a frigate in a stiff breeze in the Channel, with coastal craft and other shipping beyond by Charles Brooking. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,958.72), 17% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Brooking have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Men-O'-War Reefed-Down And Riding Out A Gale in June 2014 with an auction result of GBP 68,500.00 (€ 85,587.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Dezember 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion An Iberian Private Collection Part II: Furniture, Silver, Jewellery, Paintings, European, Chinese & Islamic Ceramics durch, in der auch die Arbeit A '74' and a frigate in a stiff breeze in the Channel, with coastal craft and other shipping beyond von Charles Brooking zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.958,72) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Brooking auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Men-O'-War Reefed-Down And Riding Out A Gale im Juni 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 68.500,00 (€ 85.587,47).
