Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A portrait of a young woman, small three-quarter-length, in a black dress and bonnet, at a casement by Charles Baxter was auctioned at Christies in London in February 2000. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 632.50 (€ 1,035.04) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Baxter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Flute Player in October 2004 with an auction result of USD 14,340.00 (€ 11,250.59).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 632,50 (€ 1.035,04) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Baxter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Flute Player im Oktober 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 14.340,00 (€ 11.250,59).
