The work The Blinding of the Inhabitants of Sodom by Carle van Loo was sold in the Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online auction at Christies in London in July last year. It achieved a price of GBP 107,100.00 (€ 127,896.42), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 53%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carle van Loo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Venus requesting Vulcan to make arms for Aeneas, which sold at auction in January 2000 for USD 277,500.00 (€ 284,411.19).

Die Arbeit The Blinding of the Inhabitants of Sodom von Carle van Loo wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 107.100,00 (€ 127.896,42) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 53%. Für andere Arbeiten von Carle van Loo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Venus requesting Vulcan to make arms for Aeneas beobachtet, die im Januar 2000 für USD 277.500,00 (€ 284.411,19) versteigert wurde.
