This price was achieved in the auction TABLEAUX ANCIENS ET DU 19EME SIECLE (ET ORIENTALISTES) at Christies in Paris and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 7,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by César Pattein; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot French Les Blés sold at auction in May 2014 with the realized price of USD 59,375.00 (€ 43,530.06).
