Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French You Shall Not Pass by César Pattein was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 43,000.00 (€ 27,620.76). Other works by César Pattein have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in May 2014 by the work French Les Blés at USD 59,375.00 (€ 43,530.06).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit French You Shall Not Pass von César Pattein im April 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 43.000,00 (€ 27.620,76) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von César Pattein wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Mai 2014 die Arbeit French Les Blés mit USD 59.375,00 (€ 43.530,06).
