Forest in Western Sichuan entitled, inscribed and signed, with one seal of the artist Dated Flower Festival, second month, spring, gengshen year (1980)

This artwork by Cen Xuegong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in February this year. In the Dawn of Spring – Chinese Paintings Online auction, the work Viewing Waterfall / Forest in Western Sichuan sold for HKD 44,100.00 (€ 5,299.32) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cen Xuegong - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Misty Sunset, which sold at auction in December 2015 for HKD 150,000.00 (€ 17,819.32).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cen Xuegong erzielte im Februar diesen Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Dawn of Spring – Chinese Paintings Online wurde die Arbeit Viewing Waterfall / Forest in Western Sichuan für HKD 44.100,00 (€ 5.299,32) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 25.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Cen Xuegong mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Misty Sunset beobachtet, die im Dezember 2015 für HKD 150.000,00 (€ 17.819,32) versteigert wurde.
