Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Magnolia in a porcelain bowl decorated with two quails in kakiemon style by Cecil Kennedy was auctioned at Bonhams in London in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,864.00 (€ 5,636.32). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cecil Kennedy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Summer in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 80,750.00 (€ 127,998.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Magnolia in a porcelain bowl decorated with two quails in kakiemon style von Cecil Kennedy im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.864,00 (€ 5.636,32) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cecil Kennedy erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Summer im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 80.750,00 (€ 127.998,69).
