Despite a disappointment, a good price for Cecil Hardy
In August 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Cantle Structure Divided by Cecil Hardy for AUD 117.50 (€ 69.41). This price was achieved in the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS at Christies in Sydney and was even below the estimate range of AUD 200.00 – 300.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Cantle Structure Divided is the most expensive artwork by Cecil Hardy that we have observed at auction so far.
